Open Wide

This past week I took the boys to the pediatric dentist. With as much sugar as they eat, I was shocked to find out that neither one of them had any cavities. They both had a hard time with the back x-rays, especially Ethan because he has a really srong gag reflux. But the nurses were very patient and so cute with them. Ethan had a panoramic x-ray taken and we found out that he has an extra incisor tooth. How crazy is that? So, in about a year they will have to pull out that baby tooth, let the first permanent tooth come down, and then eventually pull that one so that the other one can come down. Yeah, fun times ahead. I'm sure that's not the worst thing he'll have to go through though, I see braces in the future.

Search Diligently

Drew and I had to speak in Sacrament meeting last Sunday. The scripture we were given to speak about was D&C 90:45, "Search diligently, pray always, be believing, and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly and remember the covenant wherewith ye have covenanted one with another." I would like to share a story that I shared in my talk about searching diligently. A couple weeks ago, we were having family scripture study. We were reading in 1st Nephi about Nephi and his brothers going to get the plates of brass. The kids were laughing and carrying on and not paying any attention whatsoever, so we stopped and asked them what we had just read about. Of course, they didn't know, so we told them we were talking about Nephi and his brothers. We then asked them if they knew what Nephi's brothers names were. They said no. We told them and asked them again. The only one they could remember was Sam. So we told them the names again, and still they couldn't remember the other names. This went on a few more times, and finally Drew told Ethan that before he could watch cartoons the next day, he had to find out what the other brothers names were. The next morning, Drew came home from his church meetings and found Ethan sitting in the front room with his Book of Mormon. He asked him if he found the answer, and Ethan said "Dad, it's Laman and Lemuel." He had looked in the scriptures on his own and found the answer he needed. I was so proud of him. And of course I cried while I was telling the story in sacrament meeting. The talks went better than we expected, so I'm hoping that we won't have to speak again for a long while.

Marshmal-l-l-ows

One of Blakes favorite snacks is Marshmallows. I love the way he says Marshmallow. So cute!

Once There Was A Snowman

A few weeks ago, I decided I needed to be a good mom and go play outside with the kids. We had a fun time building this snowman and sledding down the little "hill" on the parkstrip. The snowman lasted about ten minutes until Blake tried to "fix" something and knocked it over. I couldn't lift it back up, so we decided that the snowman was taking a nap. Blake was satisfied with that. The kids had a blast, and Mom actually had fun too. Go figure.

I'm a blogger

So everybody has been telling me that I need to start a blog, so I decided to finally give in. I was a little hesitant because I have never been a good journaler or scrapbooker, and this kind of falls into the same category. But I figure I'm on the computer enough as it is, so I might as well do this and see how it goes. So bear with me, I have a lot to learn.
